This 7-day snowboard course in Manali is designed for beginners, offering an immersive experience in one of India’s premier skiing destinations. Manali, nestled in the Himalayas, provides perfect slopes for novice skiers to gradually develop their skills while enjoying breathtaking mountain views. The course ensures a steady progression, starting from understanding basic equipment to confidently skiing on gentle slopes. Expert instructors will guide participants through essential techniques, ensuring both fun and safety. By the end of the course, participants will be able to manoeuvre on the snow with ease, gaining the skills necessary to pursue snowboarding more seriously.
Our participants will be taken to the nearby nursery slopes away from the crowded commercial slopes. This will help the participants focus more on their training and the instructor will be able to monitor and guide the participants in gaining skills.
The course covers all fundamentals, with hands-on training, drills, and practical experience on the slopes. Each day is designed to build upon the previous one, allowing beginners to improve their balance, control, and confidence. Participants will also get tips on understanding weather conditions, avalanche safety, and the importance of equipment care. This course is perfect for adventure seekers wanting to explore skiing or those looking to enjoy winter sports during their vacation in the Himalayas. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the necessary skills to hit beginner slopes independently and even venture into more advanced snowboarding with practice.
Skill Learned: Familiarisation with snowboard equipment and basic movement.
On Arrival in Manali, our team will pick the participants and drive to Solang, closer to our skiing slopes. After freshening up and a warm lunch all the participants will gather for briefing equipment familiarisation and ice breaking sessions.
On the first day, participants will be introduced to the snowboard ,gear – skis, boots, poles, and bindings. Instructors will demonstrate how to wear, handle, and carry the equipment. Basic movements like walking on snowboard,with one leg attached to binding , balance exercises, and posture alignment will also be practised on flat terrain. This is essential to ensure that participants feel comfortable in their gear and begin to understand their centre of gravity on skis.
Skill Learned: Mastering the correct skiing stance and gliding on gentle slopes.
The second day focuses on perfecting the skier’s and snowboarders stance—bending knees, leaning slightly forward, and positioning arms correctly. Participants will also learn to glide smoothly on small, gentle slopes, developing an understanding of balance while moving. This day will help participants gain confidence in moving on snowboard while maintaining stability.
Skill Learned: Basic control of speed and direction using the j-turn technique.
Participants will be introduced to the “j -turn technique also, a fundamental skill for beginners to control speed and direction. can control how fast they go while maintaining stability. This day will involve practising this technique repeatedly on gentle slopes to ensure mastery.
Skill Learned: Turning and manoeuvring with the j-turn technique.
Building on the j- turn technique, the fourth day focuses on teaching participants how to turn and change direction while skiing. Instructors will guide participants through gradual turns on moderate slopes, emphasising control, precision, and weight shifting. This day aims to develop agility and confidence while navigating down the slope.
Skill Learned: Linking turns and maintaining control during descent.
Participants will practise linking s-turns, which is essential for fluid movement down the slopes. Instructors will introduce slightly steeper slopes to teach better control while skiing down. The day will be spent on mastering this technique to allow for smoother, more consistent snowboarding.
Skill Learned: On the sixth day, a more advanced method for changing direction and controlling speed. This technique helps snowboarders to move from the beginner s_ turn to to a more natural and efficient style of skiing. Instructors will provide drills to help beginners
Skill Learned: Applying all learned techniques on the higher slopes.
The final day focuses on putting all the techniques together. Participants will spend most of the day snowboarding on higher slopes. This is the culmination of the course, where beginners can enjoy snowboarding independently, with instructors offering feedback and guidance to refine their skills further.
After the long run there will be the certification ceremony. After leaving the base in Solang participants can spend some time in the Manali market for some shopping. Evening the participants will be dropped in the Volvo bus stand to continue their further journey home.
