Explore Kerala’s scenic waterways and coastal beauty while learning an exciting new skill! Our 3-day Intro to Sea Kayaking Course at Syzygy Ecosports is designed especially for beginners looking to safely and confidently experience the joy of kayaking. Set in the peaceful backwaters and near-shore sea environments of Kerala, this program is the perfect blend of learning, adventure, and natural connection.
Why Choose Sit-on-Top Kayaking in Kerala?
Sit-on-top kayaks are stable, easy to maneuver, and ideal for tropical water conditions. Unlike traditional sit-in kayaks, these don’t require technical gear like spray skirts or cockpit rolls — making them a perfect choice for first-time paddlers and water sports enthusiasts in India. You’ll feel comfortable, safe, and free to explore, even if you’ve never been in a kayak before.

Earn Confidence & Certification
By the end of the course, you’ll walk away with essential kayaking skills, a greater respect for water safety, and a strong foundation to continue exploring sea kayaking. You’ll also receive a course certificate — and plenty of great memories!
Arrive by late morning, meet your instructors and fellow paddlers. After a safety briefing and early lunch, you’ll be introduced to the kayak, PFD, paddle, and posture. In the afternoon, you’ll hit the water to practice your first strokes and basic maneuvers on calm, shallow waters.
Today is all about improving technique. You’ll learn turning, stopping, backward paddling, and sideways movement. We also introduce wet exits and self-rescue drills (safe and fun on sit-on-top kayaks), as well as a short guided paddle through beautiful local backwaters.
We revisit key techniques, focus on balance and stroke efficiency, and practice assisted rescues, towing, and group paddling formations. The course ends with a short challenge paddle and a debriefing session. Participants receive a certificate of completion.
